Yule

As we approach the Winter Solstice this is a great time to pause, reflect and express gratitude, and I’m so grateful to everyone who continues to support me and to everyone who celebrated at our Winter Solstice Circle last weekend!

Yule or the Winter solstice marks the point in the year when the nights are longest. Many cultures across the world celebrate this time with feasts and connection with community and loved ones.

Connection with others is so important at this time, as historically this was necessary to keep the community safe from harsh winters. Food was shared to make sure no one would go hungry, and ghosts stories would be told to warn people to stay close and against going out in the cold at night.

This was also a celebration of bringing light to the dark to mark the gradual lengthening of the days after this point. This would be done physically with candles and fires, and energetically with singing, giving gifts and giving to charity.

As with any changing season this can be a great time for reflection, so pause and take some time to see what comes up for you, and you can use these journal prompts to help with this:
