5 Years of Teaching Yoga
Today marks 5 years since I taught my first yoga class! That first class was a nightmare, on zoom during the pandemic and my neighbours decided at that exact time to start drilling! I persevered and I’m so glad I did and that this has become my job!
Thank you to every single person who has practiced with me in person or online, whether it's regularly or just 1 time, whether you liked the class or not, the only reason I have this job because of this wonderful community and I'm so so grateful. 5 years is a long time to do anything and I'll admit there were times when I had doubts that it would last this long, but I'm having so much fun and I'm excited to see what the future holds!
Thank you to my friends who came to my first zoom classes - finishing my training and starting to teach during a pandemic was interesting to say the least, and the transition to in person teaching was tricky. Thank you for going along with my trial and error classes and I hope you got as much from our classes as I learned from you.
A huge thank you to Category is Books which was my first regular in-person class starting in August 2022, I'm so grateful to the wonderful community who came to those early classes and are coming to queer yoga at the Wee Retreat now.
Thank you to Studio70 and Meridian Yoga for bringing me on to cover classes and then to have my own weekly classes, and to help behind the scenes with studio admin and social media. Luckily I also really enjoy the tech side of teaching yoga!
Thank you to Chris and Debbie at YogaXLife in Newcastle for that first training and all the encouragement, and Steph at Kali Collective - I’ve learned so much from you!
There have been things that have not gone so well, like Flow Cycle Yoga, my online membership of menstrual and lunar cycle aligned yoga. The recorded classes are all still available if that sounds up your street! I’m still really passionate about cycle aligned yoga so I may channel this through another avenue in future.
There are also things that have gone unexpectedly well, like embracing my witchy side with seasonal celebration circles and journal prompts! I didn’t think people would be as into this as I am but I stand corrected!
As I’ve been reflecting on the last 5 years and trying to think of how to mark this anniversary I thought what better way than to bring it back to where it all began and record a special online class for you from my bedroom. I really hope you enjoy it!
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart, I’m so grateful to you for your continued support! 💜
I hope I’ll see you in a class soon!
